  • What is MUN ?

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extracurricular activity in which students typically portrait delegates and express their views while objectively being connected to their country policies in the United Nations and simulate UN committees.


  • What is KAIHLMUN?

KAIHLMUN is an annually organized MUN conference since 2016, by Kartal Anadolu Imam Hatip High School MUN team. KAIHLMUN’19 is ensuring glorified academic debate opportunities for a wide range of students -from advanced to newbies who are keen and willing- supported by a reliable organization for its attendees.

  • What kind of benefits does MUN provide?

Delegates process concrete academic knowledge and by doing so, they form new opinions and create different perspectives which lead them to critical thinking. Attendees also learn to find practical and effective solutions to global problems by discussing the topics within the frame of committee agenda items and writing a resolution paper with other delegates. Also the opportunity to form a -healthy and reciprocal- communication will be given to the students. In the end, participants acquire invaluable skills such as negotiating, public speaking, self-confidence and in many cases improving their language skills as a result of their active participation in debates. All these, will prepare students for a better future.

  • What is the Dress-code?

Participants should be aware of the intention of this conference being centrally academic and avoid clothing that is not in line with this in ways such as but not limited to:

-being too casual (sneakers, jeans, sweaters etc.)

-exposing excessive bare skin, revealing undergarments, or being otherwise revealing

-failing to comply the specific necessities regarding clothing, which are as followed:

for Female: Knee-length business attire is required.

for Male: Suit and a tie or a bow tie.

  • What is the role of a delegate?

The role of a delegate is to characterize its delegation more specifically its country in United Nations system.

A delegate tries to find beneficial solutions to world problems by debating his agenda, creating draft resolutions, explaining the political stance of his country, demanding different possible solutions to the draft resolutions or discussions; in brief, active participating in the debate is a delegates main role. As in the abovementioned duties of a delegate, he/she will contribute to the decision-making process and their implementations in the scope of their committees.

  • When and where will KAIHLMUN’19 be held ?

  • Who can apply?

KAIHLMUN’19 accepts high school and university students from all over the world. Also participants are expected to have a good command of language as well as a background regarding the global issues that influence the humanity.

  • Are there any limits for delegations?

A delegation can consist of 3-15 delegates. For the applications with more than 15 participants from the same organization, KAIHLMUN’19 offers an opportunity to form multiple delegations which means the head delegate can apply once again by writing their institution name with the heading 2 as it is stated in the example below.

However, participants should bear in mind that the Secretariat of KAIHLMUN’19 reserves the right to ask the head delegates to reduce the total number of delegates in their delegation, due to the limited number of seats.

  • What does the payment cover?

The conference fee covers welcome packs, conference materials, certificates, coffee breaks, lunches and gala dinner.

  • Under which circumstances transportation will be provided?

  • Where exactly is accommodation and how much does it cost?

  • What are our official languages?

Since KAIHLMUN’19 is a trilingual conference, we have three official languages which are English, Arabic and Turkish.

  • Is it necessary to have previous MUN experiences?

It is not vital to have previous experiences, first-timers are welcome as well. However, since the level of difficulty and complexity of the committees will differ, while making applications bear in mind that our JCC and FSC committees are for advanced delegates.

  • How should a delegate prepare himself/herself for the conference?

First of all, a delegate should be aware of the agenda item of his/her committee and read the corresponding study guide carefully. While reading the study guide, the delegate should take notes which will help him/her during the debate. As a tip, best way to prepare for MUN is to write a position paper.

  • How is the country assigning going to be evaluated?

Assignation of countries will take the applications and the previous experiences of the delegates as a base. According to these informations countries will be assigned by the secretariat and PR team.

  • Is there a workshop?

Yes, there is going to be a workshop on the first day of the conference. The schedule will be published to our website soon.


  • Is it compulsory to attend all the sessions?

Attendance is compulsory. Delegates who are not present for two sessions will not receive  certificate of participation.

  • When are the allocations going to be received?

Allocations will be sent out after the evaluation process of the applications. If any problem occurs PR team should be contacted.

  • How are the delegates going to be awarded?

According to the committee’s procedure awards could show difference. But usually there are best-delegate, outstanding delegate and mention awards given to the delegates.

  • How to act in the committees?

Participants should be aware of the formal sessions and act according to the rules of procedure which means: during the sessions, eating, drinking, smoking, cross-talking, usage of electronic devices is strictly prohibited except a few situations which your committee directors will be sure to tell you.
